Holliston Biodiesel is working to increase awareness of alternative energy sources and help make them mainstream. We are committed to providing high quality biodiesel fuel to the community and beyond. Our fuel oil is made from waste oil collected through a network of local restaurants and sold exclusively to local customers.
Any machine that was designed to use petroleum diesel fuel, can and will work as well or better, using biodiesel with no modifications. There have been a number of successful trials of biodiesel by the military and by municipal transit systems that have proven the benefits of boidiesel, beyond any doubt. Read more...
Biodiesel is a domestic alternative to imported petroleum diesel fuel. It can be used in any diesel engine without any modifications and in many fuel, heating applications. It is made from new or recycled vegetable oil produced on local farms, by local farmers.
Biodiesel is considered a renewable source of energy. It comes from a "closed carbon loop" meaning that when it is burned it produces as much carbon as was consumed by the plants that it came from. Unlike petroleum diesel which takes carbon out of the ground and puts it into the atmosphere. Increased use of biofuels, such as biodiesel, is helping to make our air cleaner and helping to stop global warming.
A U.S. Department of Energy study shows that the production and use of biodiesel, compared to petroleum diesel, resulted in a 78.5% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. It significantly reduces the levels of irritants and carcinogens in our air and when it comes out of the exhaust pipe even smells better than diesel smoke! Biodiesel smell can smell like french fries!
